I found myself in the unfortunate position of having forgotten my wallet (with my license) at home yesterday, and had to drive without a license. That's fine, I would just go the speed limit and not get pulled over.

The road I drive home on is really weird. It goes, quite sharply, from a 40 MPH zone to a 25 MPH zone. I guess the giant truck behind me didn't see the signs, which are not well placed IMO, but he got really, really mad and tailgated me as I went 25 in the 25. When I turned off, he honked at me.

Well, my writing doesn't really do it justice. It was a lot scarier when I was slowing to 25 and the truck was just continuing to bare down on me...

Of course, I would be pissed if someone was going 25 in a 40 - but I was going 40 in the 40, so he should've thought something was up. Anyway, I'm okay, and I have my license today. I still go slow through that area, but 25 is a ridiculous speed limit in my opinion.

That is one of those truck drivers who, while in the minority, makes us all look bad. I have been known to call the company on truckers who tailgate whether it be a four wheeler or another truck. There is simply no excuse for it.

On behalf of those of us who are professional and keep safety in mind at all times, I apologize for the behavior of one of our less than professional asshats. Sadly we do have our share of idiots out there, especially in this age of CDL mills churning out people who wouldn't have even been considered 10 years ago.

Next time try to get the company name and truck number and call in a complaint on the driver. If they receive several complaints the driver will lose his job, and rightly so.

Thanks for making the road a little bit safer by not being one of those minority drivers!

No need to thank me, it's what I get paid to do. I personally have zero respect for those wannabe steering wheel holders.

A lot of people get paid to do things and still don't do them.

I feel your pain!  I have a sister (and BIL) who are Truck drivers, and of course Mason's stories to know that most out there are better drivers than most clowns on the road.  But you never know when you get one that is not, so I try to stay behind trucks!  or if in front, pulling away!

Small note of advice...the kind of driver who will tailgate will not be put off by you speeding up, they will follow suit and soon be on your ass again. Best to find a safe way to pull over and let them by...and as Mason says, get some ID and make a call. If you have never been in the cab of a large truck, you may not be aware that once they get too close, they can't even SEE your taillights and if you were to apply brakes, they wouldn't know it. Better to let them have the road than to cause more harm...of course if you happen to be on a hill and in a place he can't pass you...well...slowing down WILL piss them off...but you better be out of sight when they build the speed back up...heheheheeee.

My car will be in my drive way and I will be tucked in bed!

Best to not play games with them. Simple law of physics, 40 tons will win over 1 ton every time. And a few of those guys are truly mentally unstable. It's not worth the risk to life and limb. Being in the right doesn't mean anything in a graveyard. Calling in and reporting them is always the best choice.
