I can't believe I'm related to these people.
So, yeah. Here we are again, with actual proof that poor people live better than middle-income people.
There was no category for stupidity, by the way, or it would have gone there.
Someone I know, who make less than me, has 4 kids under the age of 5, and a wife who always complains that they are running out of food at the end of the month even though they're on food stamps, WIC, and any other government program... has now purchased (on credit of course) $6,000 worth of brand new furniture.
Let that sink in a little.
4 kids under the age of 5... brand new furniture...
$6,000.
As LW would say, GAH!
If I lived in the same state as them, I would punch him in the face.
I don't even want to keep up with their excessive spending patterns, but it's living proof that they don't need any government funding. $100 a month will pay it off in 5 years, with no interest. I think if you're paying something off for 5 years, and it's not making you money somehow, there's a problem.
Why are people so stupid? At least when I go blow money, I don't do it on credit - but yeah, I do make less-than-optimal spending decisions at times. But I'm not going to put us into that much debt over FURNITURE. In face, most of the furniture in our house cost us nothing. The only exceptions are the kitchen table set, which cost $75 and a matress I bought for $2,000 with our tax refund. (of course, I meant to use the first year's tax refund, and it ended up being the second year's tax refund... bah).
If the kids end up ruining the furniture in the first week, which let's face it, is kid's job description...
I'm going to laugh. Really hard. Then I'll feel bad about it, but not until after.
