Well, this was certainly a big deal to me. I've never been out of the office, or really dealt with any insureds in a meaningful way. But this time, I went out on a document gathering mission. To their credit, this insured was very cooperative and had everything basically laid out for us. We're shipping a box home and have left orders for them of what to copy for us.
I've gotten a lot of time with the boss this week, which is a good thing. He's a great guy, very smart, knows about stuff. So we had a great week, at least I think so. We were supposed to stay until Friday, and we're done after Wednesday. Them having the stuff ready for us enabled us to get out of their quick, but also our ability to look quickly through things and know what is important is helpful. So at least I have work to do on the plane ride back. The plane ride up had me staring out the window, which while fun, was not good for the billable hour category. One can only bill so much travel time before the insured gets mad. Luckily, I got in some file planning time and some other actual work time in the airport, so I can avoid that time. And I probably won't bill the entire flight.
I will bill the entire flight back, though, because if I don't put in some flight-time for work I'm not going to be able to go home when we get back. I will have to work, and I would much rather get reaquainted with my wife and sons.
